How Our Foundation Work
Comes Together
Site Evaluation
Every foundation project starts with an in-person site visit. We look at soil conditions, drainage, grade, and access. The evaluation shapes the foundation design and determines what approach the site requires.
Engineering and Permits
We coordinate with structural engineers and pull permits before any ground is broken. Montana's terrain and frost depths require careful planning — the engineering is done before the shovel goes in.
Excavation
We coordinate excavation to the depth and dimensions the foundation requires. For sites with challenging access or terrain, we have experience with Montana conditions that most contractors won't touch.
Forming and Reinforcement
Forms are set to exact dimensions. Rebar is laid out and tied per the structural plan. The form work is what makes a clean, accurate pour — we don't rush this phase.
Pour and Cure
Concrete is poured, consolidated, and finished. Cure time is respected — we don't strip forms early or rush the timeline. The foundation is only as strong as the cure allows.

Foundation FAQs
What foundation types do you build?
Poured concrete slab, crawl space foundations, and full basement foundations. The right type depends on the site, the structure above, and the climate requirements for the specific location in Montana.
Why does Montana require 4-foot-deep cement bases in some cases?
Montana's frost depth in many areas exceeds 3 feet. Footings that don't extend below the frost line will heave with freeze-thaw cycles, damaging the structure above. We build to the depth the site and climate require.
Do you handle the full foundation scope or just the pour?
We manage the full foundation scope — from site evaluation through backfill. We coordinate excavation and work with structural engineers where required, so you have one point of contact for the entire foundation phase.
What does a foundation project cost?
Foundation projects typically range from $20K for a simple slab to $300K+ for a full basement on complex terrain. Site conditions are the biggest cost variable. We provide honest estimates after the site evaluation.
