How Our Roofing Projects
Come Together
Roof Inspection
Shay walks every roof before quoting. We look at the existing system, the deck condition, drainage, and any areas of concern. The inspection determines scope before any work is contracted.
Material Selection
We discuss roofing material options based on the building type, snow load, aesthetics, and budget. Metal roofing, architectural shingles, or standing seam — each has tradeoffs we'll walk you through honestly.
Tear-Off
Old material comes off cleanly and completely. We inspect the deck during tear-off and address any rot, damage, or structural concerns before new material goes on.
Installation
Underlayment, ice shield, and primary roofing material are installed to manufacturer spec and Montana climate requirements. Shay is on-site for every phase of the installation.
Details and Final Inspection
Ridge, flashing, valleys, and penetrations are finished and sealed. We do a final walkthrough before leaving the project to confirm everything is correct.

Why Stein Builders for Your Roofing Project
One Builder, Start to Finish
Shay runs every Stein Builders project personally. There is no project manager between you and the builder, and no rotating crew handling the details that matter. You hire the owner — and the owner does the work.
Built for Generations, Not for Speed
Every Stein Builders project is built for the long view. The structural choices, material selections, and finish work are made for a result meant to stand for many generations.
Licensed, Insured, and Bonded
Stein Builders LLC is fully licensed in Montana, fully insured, and bonded. Documentation is available on request before any work begins.
Range That Fits the Project
We take projects from $20,000 focused scopes to $10 million full builds. The same level of attention applies to a single custom piece as to a complete luxury home.

Roofing FAQs
What roofing materials do you work with?
Metal roofing (standing seam and corrugated), architectural asphalt shingles, and specialty roofing systems. Metal roofing is the most common choice in Montana for its snow-shedding performance and longevity.
How do you handle steep or complex roof systems?
Complex roof geometry — multiple pitches, valleys, dormers, and custom ridge lines — is a regular part of the custom homes we build. We have experience with steep-pitch and architecturally complex roof systems.
Do you do repairs or just full replacements?
Both. We do targeted repairs for specific problem areas as well as full replacements. We'll tell you honestly which a given roof requires.
What does a roofing project cost?
Roofing projects typically range from $15K for a small residential replacement to $250K+ for a large custom home with complex geometry. Material choice and roof complexity are the primary cost drivers.
